Solotrode
Adaptive weight-stack technology that senses user movement and dynamically assists or resists a conventional selectorized stack via a closed-loop electromechanical drive.
Closed-Loop Electromechanical Coupling
The Mechanical Limitation of Static Pin Stacks
Traditional selectorized strength equipment forces a single static compromise: users select a fixed plate count before starting a set. When fatigue occurs at biomechanical sticking points, the exerciser must abort the movement, return the iron stack to rest, and manually move the selector pin.
Standard equipment cannot vary resistance within a single repetition, offer eccentric overload, or assist a failing repetition safely without a physical spotter.
The Patented Solution: Dynamic Hybrid Torque
U.S. Patent No. 11,883,717 B2 solves this foundational engineering constraint by coupling a bidirectional electric motor directly to conventional selectorized weight stacks. Rather than replacing physical iron plates with pure digital simulation, Solotrode preserves authentic mechanical inertia while continuously modulating assistance or resistance in real time:
- Intra-Repetition Velocity Sensing: Frame-mounted Hall-effect sensors read plate-level magnetic markers while a high-resolution rotary encoder tracks cable displacement and speed.
- Microsecond Torque Injection: When the control loop detects velocity decay at biomechanical sticking points, the motor injects instantaneous assistance to ensure safe completion.
- Eccentric Overload Capability: The bidirectional motor can add counter-rotational force during the eccentric lowering phase, maximizing muscular stimulus beyond static gravity limits.
- Factory Retooling Compatibility: Designed to integrate directly with existing commercial frames, guide rods, pulleys, and selector pins used by major fitness equipment OEMs.
